De Xiaohe: Lawyer Li Kunwei, first of all, can you share how you started your career as a lawyer?

Lawyer Li Kunwei: After graduating from university, I went to work in a law firm directly. Two years later, I began to practice independently. As I worked as a team lawyer, I accumulated a certain reputation among clients. Under such circumstances, I began to post some legal reviews on the Internet, which fortunately received a lot of attention. Later, with the accumulation of my own business, I became the youngest partner of my law firm after almost one year of independent practice. Since then, I have been deeply engaged in the legal service industry, committed to providing clients with high-quality and efficient legal services.

De Xiaohe: Can you share what made you choose Dehe Hantong and set up the Chengdu office of Dehe Hantong?

Lawyer Li Kunwei: In 2022, considering that I hope to work with more excellent partners and build an ideal law firm with friends who share the same values, after communicating with the founding partners, lawyers Jiang Chun and Zhang Hengtong, I highly agree with their personality charm and their thoughts on the law firm and lawyers. We believe that, Coming together with Dehe Hantong is a like-minded thing, so I chose to join Dehe Hantong. At the same time, Dehe Hantong's “family culture” has given me a strong sense of identity and resonance, and I also agree with the service concept of “diligence, ingenuity, and perfection”. After joining Dehe Hantong, I also chose to set up the Chengdu office of Dehe Hantong.

De Xiaohe: I heard that the environment of Dehe Hantong Chengdu office is beautiful and advanced, and it won the award of “2023 Asia-Pacific Space Design Annual” Top Ten Office Space Design. What is your original intention and consideration for the design?

Lawyer Li Kunwei: As for the decoration design of Dehe Hantong Chengdu office, in fact, it is mainly responsible for lawyer Zhang Yong and lawyer Tang Baoyi. At that time, our primary consideration was to have the vibrant atmosphere of a new era law firm, and at the same time, there should be a calm, professional and reliable concept of the lawyer industry, so we finally landed on the Chengdu office's current appearance and form.

De Xiaohe: You cooperated with Tencent News on the program of “Observation in the Case”; In cooperation with Bilibili, there are “Urgent as Law” law program and “90 Marriage Agency”; In cooperation with Weibo, there is a law popularization program called “Three Chapters of the Law”, with more than 50 million video views and 600 million comprehensive annual reading. How do you see the role of the Internet in promoting the law?

Lawyer Li Kunwei: The Internet is a very important carrier and channel for lawyers' work at present, which allows some of our thoughts and expressions to be seen as much as possible. For lawyers in the new era, we must pay attention to the positive role that the Internet can play in expanding their own case source channels and conveying personal professional ability.

De Xiaohe: What was your special experience when you were invited to participate in CCTV's Drama Understanding Law program?

Lawyer Li Kunwei: The first feeling is that my Mandarin needs to be improved. I have always felt that my Mandarin is not bad, and as a result, there are two sentences in the recording process of the program that are indeed repeated many times.

The second is to feel professional. First of all, it is professional at the level of program recording, CCTV is worthy of being our national media, whether it is lighting, or the efficiency of the program process, including the polishing of the script are very professional. Secondly, I majored in legal knowledge. In cooperation with CCTV CCTV12's “Drama Understand the Law” program, they will consolidate and refine the legal knowledge points involved in my written script with professors and practitioners from famous universities, such as judges and prosecutors.

The third feeling is breakthrough. I did not become more conservative in my writing because the program was broadcast on CCTV. Generally speaking, I still wrote according to my real thoughts. In the final script, I found that the content and opinions I had written before were presented very completely and were not restricted. And the use of some new words in the script is very fashionable, you can feel that CCTV as a national media, directly embrace the attitude of the Internet, which is a spirit of striving for new, is very worthy of praise.

De Xiaohe: What is your original intention to create the “Attacking Lawyers” series of legal works?

Li Kunwei: I first started writing this story in 2017. For professional reasons, I usually like to watch legal dramas. Although the plots of these stories are often different from the facts due to the needs of artistic creation, I still enjoy them because of their respect for the profession of lawyers. Of course, I also watch some domestic films and television productions labeled as “legal dramas”, but unfortunately I find that these works seem to be labeled as “legal dramas”, which seem to describe the “life of lawyers”, but seem to express the “emotional life” of lawyers. Lawyers, especially litigation lawyers, encounter a tense and exciting case in real life, and experience the days of “knife tip licking blood”, because most of the writers lack professional knowledge background, so they do not understand subjectively, and objectively the picture presented will be somewhat different.

It happened that I had just been writing to the public on the Internet, and in addition to general law, I occasionally wrote some novellas and short stories, so one day I suddenly thought: “Since there are no good lawyer stories in China, why don't I write one?” Therefore, in the spirit of “I can do it,” I wrote the first word about this series of stories and published the first book of this series in 2019.

De Xiaohe: You were named a National Advanced Individual in Public Legal Services in 2024. What does that mean to you?

Lawyer Li Kunwei: This is a great recognition and encouragement for me. This honor will remind me and our Chengdu office to invest more in public welfare legal undertakings, whether it is online public welfare law or offline public legal aid, we should be more actively involved, so as to be worthy of this precious honor awarded by the Ministry of Justice.

De Xiaohe: As far as I know, the average age of partners in the Chengdu office is the youngest in the offices of Dehe Hantong. What advantages do you think the younger legal team has?

Lawyer Li Kunwei: The Internet is a very important carrier and channel for lawyers' work at present, which allows some of our thoughts and expressions to be seen as much as possible. The advantage of Chengdu office in the new era lies in the “three new”, new form, new field and new atmosphere.

The new form is to convey the professional image of the law firm and the professional ability of the lawyer through the Internet and other forms. We will adopt a variety of new forms to introduce and promote every lawyer in our firm, and in the future, we are considering doing legal live broadcasting very seriously to provide you with solid, rigorous and reliable legal services online.

New areas, we will focus on doing some new areas of business. At present, the main force of our law firm is very excellent young and middle-aged lawyers from large firms, and I strongly agree with them. Traditional business is not our focus, but some fresh business is the direction we focus on.

The new atmosphere, I personally summed up in three words: the spirit of equality, service awareness, public welfare value. In the spirit of equality, when we think about what kind of firm we want to be, we think about what kind of firm we don't want to be? Many young lawyers have a feeling that in some law firms, the sense of class is obvious, when you are a senior partner, you have a superior status, and you are an assistant, you have to walk with a bent waist, such an atmosphere is obviously not liked by young lawyers. Therefore, in the Chengdu office of Dehe Hantong, I myself am not old, and the core partner is not old, so I have always advocated equal communication, because equality can give birth to self-esteem. This is first reflected in the construction of the law firm. We give all the best places and positions of the law firm to the public domain, instead of the partners' office, which has relatively limited views on that floor. The best scenery should be given to each of our lawyers as the public domain, which reflects equality. The sense of service, we think that the law firm should not just charge a lawyer a management fee, provide him with a desk and then call it a day, we should really invest in the service of the lawyer. Although we are still a start-up firm, we also give each lawyer a custom suit and give him the best photo to show the lawyer at his best. We have a public source Center, where we can share the source with every lawyer who's just starting out, to help really talented lawyers who haven't been discovered for a while, increase their exposure. Public interest value, many predecessors also said that lawyers are not only a profit-oriented profession, we must play their public interest value, so that their law firms can truly serve the society. Therefore, whether it is offline public interest law promotion activities or online public interest law promotion programs, we will insist on doing it, and will further give play to the role that lawyers can play at the level of public interest. In order to make young lawyers more hungry and energetic, we must pay attention to the positive role that the Internet can play in the expansion of their own case source channels and in the communication of personal professional ability.

De Xiaohe: As the director of the Management Committee of Dehe Hantong Chengdu Office and a member of the national Management Committee of Dehe Hantong, what is your plan for the future development of Dehe Hantong Chengdu Office?

Lawyer Li Kunwei: We will build and develop our law firm based on the Internet advantages of Dehe Hantong Chengdu Office and the team's understanding and grasp of new forms, new fields and new weather.

De Xiaohe: Do you have any new goals or plans for your legal career?

Lawyer Li Kunwei: Dehe Hantong Chengdu Law Firm is a comprehensive law firm that can solve complex problems. Specifically for me, in addition to coordinating the development of the whole firm, criminal defense and entertainment are two areas that I focus on developing and expanding.
