• Led a contractual dispute concerning whether the underlying transactions constituted genuine trade or financing arrangements. The matter received a LegalOne Merits (Exemplary) rating.

• Provided special-project legal services for Pudong Science and Technology Innovation Group's intellectual-property securitisation project, contributing to the overall design, contract review, legal-risk controls and safeguards for an RMB1 billion shelf asset-backed special plan. The first RMB38 million issuance pooled 60 granted patents from nine high-tech companies. The project was recognised as one of Shanghai's Top Ten Outstanding Rule-of-Law Development Cases of 2020 and was reported by People's Daily.

• Advised a number of major centrally administered and state-owned enterprises on significant contractual disputes, long-running unresolved matters and multidisciplinary risk response.

• Advised a major real estate company on a complex dispute where the original remedial route had stalled; redesigned the overall strategy and coordinated commercial-litigation and criminal-law specialists.

• Advised major construction groups, including Long Yuan Construction Group, Greenland Urban Construction Development Group and Shanghai Greenland Construction (Group), on corporate, commercial and dispute-resolution matters. Successful handling of an initial major engagement led to repeat instructions.

• Advised real estate companies including Shanghai Binjiang Property and Shanghai Dili Property on significant legal matters, helping identify the key issues and formulate an overall response strategy.

• Served more than 15 entities within an energy and environmental group, providing ongoing counsel, special-project and dispute-resolution services; the engagement expanded from a single company to the wider group and its affiliates.

• Advised public authorities and institutions, including the Xuhui District Development and Reform Commission, the Xuhui District Civil Affairs Bureau and sub-district offices, on ongoing legal affairs, legal review and community governance.

Jie Hou is a Managing Partner of the Shanghai office of Dehehantong Law Offices. He has practised law since 1994 and has more than 30 years of experience. He served as a law-firm director from 1998 to 2022.

Mr. Hou focuses on major corporate disputes, complex contractual disputes, matters involving parallel civil and criminal risks, and strategic redesign where an existing course of action has stalled. He diagnoses matters from the perspectives of the client's commercial objectives, evidential foundation and procedural options, and coordinates multidisciplinary teams across commercial, criminal and administrative law. His clients include public authorities, major centrally administered and state-owned enterprises, real estate and construction companies, energy and environmental businesses, and financial and investment institutions. He also has experience in technology finance, intellectual-property securitisation and innovative financing projects.

Mr. Hou holds qualifications relating to securities legal practice, tendering and bidding legal practice, independent directorships of listed companies, and the fund industry. He previously served as a specially appointed intellectual-property appraisal expert at a judicial appraisal centre in Beijing and is a founding council member of the Pudong New Area Intellectual Property Financing Promotion Association.

In 2026, Mr. Hou was interviewed by People's Daily Online on regulation of postgraduate-recommendation tutoring services, consumer protection and cross-agency enforcement. He proposed an industry blacklist, supervision of prepaid funds, stronger cross-agency enforcement and a consumer due-diligence checklist before signing.
