The 8th episode of Dehe Talk was successfully held, focusing on global patent and trademark layout, and helping enterprises expand their overseas markets.

On July 3, 2026, the 20th anniversary series event of DHHT Law Firm, the "Dehehan Talk" lecture - "Sailing Overseas: Strategies for Intellectual Property Layout in Overseas Expansion" was successfully held. This event was organized by the Shanghai International Business Committee of DHHT Law Firm, and was chaired by Lawyer Liu Shengnan from the Shanghai Office of DHHT Law Firm. The discussion covered topics such as patent layout, FTO analysis, differences in overseas trademark systems, and localization layout strategies during the process of overseas expansion. The aim was to help enterprises and professional service teams better understand the significant role of intellectual property in cross-border operations, and provide more targeted legal support for the stable "going global" of enterprises.

At the beginning of the event, He Xiujuan, the director of the Shanghai International Business Committee of DHHT Law Firm and a senior partner of the Shanghai office, delivered a welcome speech. Ms. He Xiujuan stated that this lecture focuses on patent and trademark layout in overseas business expansion, with content that is both professional and practical. It will cover issues such as PCT, patent rules in key regions, overseas trademark registration and maintenance systems, and overseas trademark squatting, aiming to help lawyers understand the common risks and response strategies in overseas business expansion.

01 Focus on global patent layout and analyze the FTO analysis path

Fehan Tong's Shanghai office lawyer Fang Yan delivered a presentation titled "Global Patent Layout and FTO Analysis for Product Exporting". This presentation focused on the intellectual property needs of enterprises going global, integrating global patent layout strategies, differences in key legal jurisdictions, and FTO analysis methods. It helps deepen the understanding of the logic of identifying intellectual property risks and the service entry paths in cross-border business operations of enterprises. Through a systematic review of patent rules in the Paris Convention pathway, PCT pathway, and key intellectual property jurisdictions such as Taiwan of China, Europe, America, Japan, and South Korea, it provides more practical professional references for overseas patent layout, overseas patent layout planning, and prevention of overseas patent infringement risks.

02 Focus on the differences in trademark systems and explore localization layout strategies

Hong Liangqin, a lawyer from DHHT Law Firm's Shanghai office, delivered a keynote speech on "Differences in Foreign Trademark Systems and Localization Layout Strategies". Starting from the regional risks of trademarks, and combining common issues such as overseas trademark squatting, cultural and language differences, agency management, and trademark protection, the lawyer systematically analyzed the differences in trademark registration, review mechanisms, usage requirements, renewal periods, and objection remedies among different countries and regions. She also discussed the strategies for enterprises to layout trademarks when going global, including single-country registration, the Madrid System, and regional registration. This speech helped lawyers better understand the brand protection needs and risk control priorities of enterprises when going global.

At the end of the event, the participants engaged in interactive exchanges around the lecture topic. They discussed issues such as intellectual property protection, cross-border compliance planning, risk identification and response during the process of enterprises going global. Through the exchanges, their practical thinking was further expanded, and the professional depth and practical value of this lecture were enhanced.

This "Dehe Talk" lecture closely focuses on the intellectual property protection needs of enterprises under the background of going global. It starts from two dimensions: patents and trademarks, and combines rule clarification, risk warnings, and practical reference significance. In the future, DHHT Law Firm will continue to pay attention to the legal service demands of enterprises in cross-border operations, continuously enhance the professional service capabilities in the field of foreign-related intellectual property, and provide strong support for enterprises' overseas layout, risk prevention and globalization development.
